We are looking for a well-qualified Red Seal Journeyman Electrician with commercial, residential, agricultural and/or motors & controls experience to join our team immediately. Someone that can work with customers well, troubleshoot complex electrical issues in a timely manner, and manage a small team of apprentices all while keeping accurate records.

We are a very busy mid-sized electrical contracting company working in residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural sectors. Our customers rely on us to complete projects and service calls in a timely, accurate and safe manner.

 

Our office & shop are in Bow Island, Alberta. Car pooling with a company vehicle to commute from Medicine Hat is available, but not always guaranteed. Relocation bonus negotiable for the right candidate.

 

Your duties and responsibilities include:

  • cut, thread, bend, assemble and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings

  • pull wire through conduits and holes in walls and floors

  • position, maintain and install distribution and control equipment such as switches, relays, circuit breaker panels and fuse enclosures

  • install, replace, maintain, and repair electrical systems and related electrical equipment - install & test data cabling

  • splice, join and connect wire to form circuits

  • test circuits to ensure integrity and safety

  • install and maintain fibre optic systems

  • interpret electrical drawings

  • order material from our suppliers

  • troubleshoot a variety of electrical systems to determine quickest and most cost-effective way to repair

  • interact with customers to determine their requests and/or explain your work - prepare and submit invoicing worksheets for jobs you manage

  • manage & educate less-experienced crew members

  • keep work area clean and tidy to maintain a safe neat workspace

  • use machinery occasionally to facilitate electrical installations - trenchers, lifts, etc.

  • work within proper safety regulations for our jurisdiction and at the request of your supervisor

  • purchase & maintain your own basic tools in order to safely & accurately perform your job tasks and duties

  • safely operate vehicles and machinery in order to get to job sites and install electrical components

  • supervise and guide less experienced apprentices

  • participate and engage in our company safety program

  • occasionally work on project out of our area, requiring hotel stays

  • occasionally work evening and weekends (overtime pay applies over 8hrs/day or 44hrs/week)

 

Our workdays generally run 7:00am – 5:00pm so consistent overtime income can be expected.

 

Must be willing to take on very occasional out-of-town work where accommodations and LOA are provided. Our crew works long hours to meet the demands of our customers. Occasional weekend workdays or shiftwork may be required to accommodate clients’ schedules.

 

Senior employees cycle through on-call weeks.

 

The candidate must supply his/her own tools, work attire and basic safety gear. We offer payment plans to our employees for major tool purchases.

 

The successful candidate must provide the following certificates before employment may commence:

  • Class 5 Driver’s License

  • Standard First Aid

  • WHIMIS

  • Fall Arrest

  • Aerial Lift Platforms
